Summer and Features

Journal Entry: Thu Jul 7, 2011, 6:41 AM
Well, I'm back. Again! :D The last 6 months I've had so much going on that I just haven't had a chance to get on :( Buuuut, things finally seem to be settling down again and the last few weeks I've had chance to catch up on doing some of the things I love doing, including a bit of traditional art, which I haven't done for aaaaages! And I've got the rest of the summer to carry on doing all those things :D I've also had the chance to work on some new photos, so one or two of those might be appearing in the next few weeks ;)

Anyways, I hope you're all well and enjoying the summer!

And now I've got my membership back as well I'm going to leave you with some features of a few of the photos I've been lucky enough to come across since I've been back :)

I'm back! Well, it's been a while, and last time I was on here was before I went on holiday, which was only for a week, but from when I got back I've just been so busy, this is the first real chance I've had to come on! :O_o:

Anyway, I've finally got myself organised (sort of ;)) so over the next weeks I'm hopefully going to be get going again, although it could take a while so please bear with me! I've got loads of photos from my holiday, which I'm still going through, and I'm really looking forward to having a chance to work on them, so some of those should be appearing gradually :) I'm also looking forward to having a chance to look at the work in my inbox, although with the number that have built up in the time way, I don't think it's going to be possible to see all of them, but I'll do the best that I can!

Hope everybody's well

Okay, I figure it's time I did some more features. I realise I've been a little inactive recently in terms of submitting stuff, but I've been slowly going through the deviations in my inbox, and there really are some amazing works out there, so until my next photographic excursion (next big one will be Menorca in September :excited: Can't wait! :bounce:) I'm going to focus on a couple of features :)

Back and Ready to Go

Journal Entry: Wed Jun 2, 2010, 4:44 AM
Okay, so I'm not actually going anywhere, as such, but the last 3 weeks have been so busy I've hardly had any time to come on-line at all, but...I'm back! And with a fair few photos to process :excited: In the last few weeks I've been watching some of the wildlife in the garden (a couple of squirrels, a magpie and some robins mainly) and I'm really enjoying trying to capture something new, which is completely different to landscapes. It's also given me a chance to play with my telephoto lens a bit more :D I also visited some gardens a couple of days ago, so I have quite a few shots of flowers to upload (again, this is fairly new territory for me, so please bear with me on my early efforts :))

Ooh, and slight side note- I've been accepted onto a masters course at Southampton Uni, starting in October! Yay! :bounce:

Ahem, anyway, I hope you're all having a good week :)

22!

Journal Entry: Tue May 11, 2010, 7:54 AM
Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday to mee-ee, Happy Birthday to me!

Sorry about that, couldn't resist :giggle:

So as you might have guessed, it's my birthday today! And I'm 22! I have to say, it's taken me a little while to get around to that idea...as compared to where I'm coming from (i.e. 18, 19, 20) it makees me feel really old! And I've only just been able to convince myself, that actually, in the grand scheme of things, it's really not that bad ;)

Anyway, hope everyone is well and having a wonderful day :D (well why not, it's a perfectly good day! ;))

Yay, spring is properly here! I know it's a bit late, it's been here for a while now, but it's just been so nice I thought it was worth mentioning :D

Anyways, last few weeks I've hardly had any time to come on here (just lots of work and other things) but I finally have a whole evening free, so I'm really looking forward to having the time to look through all the deviations in my inbox (as soon as I've finished writing this :D) and hopefully replying to all my messages (I feel really bad that it's taken me so long to get to it! ^^;)

Also, I'd say it's about time for some more features as well, so here you are! :D

Back Home

Journal Entry: Sat Mar 27, 2010, 3:23 PM
Righty-o, got back from Cardiff last night :( Still adjusting back, although really good day today, revolving mostly around football ;))

Anyway, Cardiff was amazing. I can't rememeber exactly how many photos I took, but I'm really looking forward to going through them and seeing what I've got :excited: Managed to get quite a few night shots (mostly city scapes- our appartment looked out over Cardiff and the river so I was really lucky in that respect), as well as a fair few shots from Cardiff Castle. On top of that I carried my camera about with me practically everywhere I went (which, when you're shopping, can get pretty heavy! ^^;)

Anywho (ooh, I also went to the Doctor Who Exhibition! :bounce:) Sorry, I digress...ahem, as I was saying, I should hopefully have some of my new shots up next week (along with another smoke shot which I've been working on) :D

I'm just about to go and have a look through all the new deviations in my inbox, and I hope you all have a great rest of the weekend :aww:

Off To Cardiff!

Journal Entry: Tue Mar 23, 2010, 1:08 AM
Okay so I'm off to Cardiff today :excited: (on the way now actually- trying to grab hold of internet connection wherever there's network *sigh*) so I won't be around much for the next four/five days (getting back late Friday evening) so I'll endeavour to reply to all my messages (well, however many I have ;)) and go through all the deviations in my inbox over the weekend when I get back (armed with a whole load of new photos, I hope! :D)

So anyway, until then, I hope you all have a great week, and I'll see you when I get back! :D

Just a few features to leave you with ;):

Getting Creative with Smoke, and some Features

Journal Entry: Tue Mar 9, 2010, 4:06 AM
Okay, first I just want to apologise for my lack of activity recently with submissions. Over the last month or so, I haven't had the chance to go out into the landscape, and I was completely shot of any other inspiration (and I didn't really want to submit just for the sake of submitting) so consequently I've had very little to work with!

But, yesterday afternoon I dived into the world of smoke trails, and had a go at capturing smoke (which isn't as easy as you might think! Well, for me anyway ;)) And having just about got rid of the smell of incense sticks from my room, I have quite a few shots to play with which I'm actually pretty happy with. The only difficulty I have now is (after the original rush of inspiration of actually having been able to capture smoke :D) coming up with some original and interesting ways of presenting what I've got...:hmm: So over the next few days you're probably going to be seeing quite a few smoke shots from me, so please bear with me ..the first few shots might be slightly unoriginal, but as I've said, this is completely new ground for me, so it might take a while to get creative  :D

Anyway, that aside, I'm pretty excited because in a couple of weeks I'm off to Cardiff for a few days, and I can't wait for the chance to shoot some new areas :excited: (Bring on the landscape and architecture photography! :w00t!:) Ahem, as I was saying, last week I bought myself a new tripod (one that doesn't wobble about) and a remote shutter release, so I'm really looking forward to testing those out with some low light/night photography along Cardiff Bay, and hopefully some potential HDR shots (which is still a relatively new area for me :)) All of which should keep me pretty busy for a fair while! :D

Finally, my lack of photoshopping and submissions recently has given me a chance to have a good look at all the other amazing artwork and photography that is there, so I just want to do a copule(ish;)) of features :D

Update and Features

Journal Entry: Mon Feb 15, 2010, 1:24 PM

First of all I just want to apologise for my lack of activity over the last week or so. I rececntly hurt my wrist somehow (I think it's some king of repetetive strain injury which has affected the muscles from my wrist right the way up my forearm) and so I've been trying to rest it, by avoiding anything which might make it worse, and unfortunately that's included using my laptop :( (You don't realise how much you use certain muscles, until you try not to use them!:O)

But anyway, that's meant I haven't been able to come on here and comment on people's works, or reply to any of my messages, so I want to apolosise if I haven't replied yet, or thanked you for faving, I'm going to sit down and go through them all now, so I catch up with everything that's been going on :D

Anyway, that's about it. I just want to say thank you very much to everyone for their recent support, and here are a couple of features :):

New shots

Journal Entry: Sat Jan 30, 2010, 3:57 PM

I love going out and getting new shots, and then coming back and having something to work on. It just makes me really inspired :D

From where I work (in Bournemouth) you can look out of all the windows and see the beach, and sea. And the last few days I've been working in the afternoon, and once it gets to about 4ish, you can see the sky start to change as the sun begins to set (although I probably shouldn't be looking out the window quite so much! :D). Anyway it just made me want to grab my camera and start shooting (And I can't believe it's taken me this long! I walk past this scene nearly every day on my way out of work, and I've kept forgetting to bring my camera! Probably just in such a rush to leave work and get home!)

But yesterday (and the day before) I finally got down there with my camera, to get some shots of the pier, and the sunset. So you're probably going to see quite a few of those over the next few days, and these will be the most up to date landscape photos that I've shot and processed my Northumberland ones back in September, so I'm pretty excited about that, as up till now what with the weather and lack of other landscape oppurtunities I've turned to close-up shots, and working on some stuff I took a while back, so hopefully you'll see a difference with the new stuff :) (I hope so anyway :D But as always, any comments or feedback would be really appreciated, as this is one of the few landscape locations that I know I can get back to pretty easily :D)

Anyway, that's me done with my photographic ramblings, but before I go I just want to do a couple of features, just to say thanks for the fantastic support :)

Update

Thu Dec 3, 2009, 3:24 PM
So, I've been pretty busy the last few weeks, and haven't had as much time to update as I'd have liked, and so I haven't had chance to look through all the deviations in my message box yet, but I will! I just wanted to let you know that I am going through them, it's just taking a while to catch up!

Aaaanyway, I've been on dA for just over 2 months now, and I just wanted to say thank you to everyone for their fantastic support- for all the comments, :+fav:'s, :+devwatch:'s...and for just coming to have a look at my gallery! I do truly appreciate it, and it just inspires me to keep going and improving. So for that, thank you :thanks:

Also, over the last 2 months I have seen some absolutely amazing works on here that just inspire even me even more, and I just wanted to share some of those with you. (And again, I'm sorry I haven't looked at all your recent stuff yet, but I will- just bear with me! :D)

Anyway- some of my favourite works: Enjoy! :boogie:

Woop woop, went up to Manchester yesterday, to see United v CSKA Moscow in the Champions League :D Fantastic last 10 minutes and the atmosphere was amazing :aww: (for those ten minutes anyway ;)) Finally got home at 4am this morning, so needless to say, I am a liiittle, tired now!

Unfortunately, I had to get up at 9, as I had a job interview for a temporary christmas job this morning at 10! *zzz* Aye well, I'm up now, might as well make the most of the day! I think the interview went alright. It only lasted 15 minutes, but he seemed happy enough! I just have to wait to hear back now, but it probably won't be till Monday. Anyway, fingers crossed :)

Finally, as you might have noticed, I've really started to get back into photography again (after hardly any time over the past few years, what with uni work and stuff. But now, finally, I actually have chance to focus on all the stuff that I've wanted to do for so long (photography included) as I finished uni in June, and finally graduated two weeks ago :D

Sooo, back to the photography, before all the uni work and things kicked off I was taking a look at wideangle lenses, and now back with the photography I'm starting to think about it again, and I just wanted to know what you guys thought. I mean, I know most of them are really expensive, but how much would you say it's worth it?

If you've got time to stop by and comment, I'd really appreciate your views :)

I've got loads of stuff I want to do, but for now I'm just going to upload some recent landscape stuff, but over the next few weeks I want to put together some photo-manip stuff combining a number of my photos. With the stuff I'm uploading at the moment I would really appreciate any comments or critique so I can approve what I'm doing and learn from it. :D Thanks guys. :)
